We will soon release our new crawler that gets more related relevant knowledge from any Web page. The crawler will also get the Wikipedia redirections, inserting more keywords in each concept semantic definition.

Webzzle Explore feature & Wikipedia Web site

We’ll start to communicate officially towards Wikipedia editors and explain how the “explore” feature could enhance each Wikipedia page. Each Wikipedia editor will be able to add more value to a Wikipedia page by putting the “Webzzle Explore” link in the page. They will also be able to save real-time knowledge links in Webzzle. Thus, the Wikipedia users will be able to extend the use of Wikipedia.

Webzzle Home Page with Random Featured Content

Today, we display random sources to explore in the home page. Tomorrow, we’ll work on a “Random featured content” functionality that will select the best sources to explore.

Since Q1 2009, we are working on 5 important evolutions. Here is the work done.

Webzzle & Wikipedia Crawler V2

We developed the Webzzle Wikipedia crawler V2. We are testing it at present. It will go on production during Q4. We’ll soon explain what it does.

Webzzle Home Page
We have built a brand new homepage to let you discover randomly, every time the page loads, a new Web resource that has been qualified in Webzzle. We also present underneath the exploration results (results you would get by clicking the ‘Webzzle Explore’ button from the source page).

We also released a new explorer page with the community top concepts. You can easily create an Object query by clicking on the concepts. When you’re connected, you access your top concepts.

In the search page, you can also access your preferred concepts.

Webzzle & the Google Explore feature
We improved our Google query mechanisms by sending more keywords combinations and showing either the best 8 or 16 results.

Webzzle & Sun infrastructure
We moved to MySQL 5.1.

Webzzle & Firefox add-on
We updated the Firefox add-on and released the version 1.1 (Still experimental) : https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/9929

At this point, we would like to explore and get more knowledge . Today, we go back to Google and search for many keywords combinaisons. We read the pages. From pages to pages, we select more and more keywords (more or less relevant). After some time, we stop our search thinking we reached the best results.

But…

What if Googling could be better ? What if a system could process many keywords combinaisons and analyse the best results for us ?
What if we could benefit from the work of people saving and qualifying their best results in a social knowledge network ? What if these knowledge results could be sorted and ranked using the knowledge network effect ?

This is the Webzzle value proposition : In one click from a Web page, you can get more relevant information from other users and get enhanced results from Google too. Webzzle automates the search queries generations to dramatically improve the search results quality.
The purpose of the explore feature is to save time for the user in the search results analysis process and get higher quality results : go straight to better results. We do not use Google like you do (passing some keywords), we process several queries, sort out the best results and rank the top ones on one page.
As the community grows, the Webzzle results improve. It’s the social knowledge network effect.

We install the “Webzzle Explore” Firefox add-on. Now, we can explore by clicking the button from a Web page.
Let’s go to : http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/14/twitters-ev-confirms-hacker-targeted-personal-accounts-attack-was-highly-distressing/
By clicking “Webzzle Explore” on this page, you get : http://www.webzzle.com/explorer/webResource.kol?action=20020&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techcrunch.com%2F2009%2F07%2F14%2Ftwitters-ev-confirms-hacker-targeted-personal-accounts-attack-was-highly-distressing%2F&title=Twitter%E2%80%99s%20%40Ev%20Confirms%20Hacker%20Targeted%20Personal%20Accounts%3B%20Attack%20Was%20%E2%80%9CHighly%20Distressing.%E2%80%9D%20-%20Mozilla%20Firefox

From the explorer result page, we start discovering the Webzzle results (if there are some) and the enhanced Google results. Just exploring with Webzzle, we find more information on the financial projections on Techcrunch : http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/15/twitters-financial-forecast-shows-first-revenue-in-q3-1-billion-users-in-2013/
We keep on exploring…the second enganced Google result for example presents some good information with discussion board : http://www.techmeme.com/090715/p75
We open for example Twitter’s Financial Forecast Shows First Revenue In Q3, 1 billion users in 2013 and the first discussion board : ventureBeat : http://digital.venturebeat.com/2009/07/15/will-twitter-really-make-154-billion-in-2013/
Then we start reading higher value information and get more knowledge. At a certain point, we can save some knowledge in our Webzzle personal knowledge organizer. It will help us and the members of the knowledge network to retrieve the best results quickly and, above all, explore from them. I personally saved http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/14/twitters-ev-confirms-hacker-targeted-personal-accounts-attack-was-highly-distressing/
with 2 concepts : Twitter & Hack
Then I explored from this. The result page showed some results stored by other members who saved and qualified good knowledge.

Enjoy exploring the knowledge web

“I’m using Webzzle Explore since a week with Firefox 3.0.4 on my OpenSolaris laptop.
I didn’t have any technical issues or problems with the plug.
It’s really great getting qualified information on just a click. Up to now all the info It sends me is really relevant, and the more people will use and feed it, the better and better it will get”, Amir, France

Webzzle Extends Google & Wikipedia with the “1-Click Web Explorer”

PALO ALTO, Calif and PARIS, France — June 12, 2008 — Webzzle announced today that it has released a new Firefox add-on to extend the use of Google and Wikipedia. Now, Webzzle enables the users to explore the real-time knowledge Web in 1-Click and get Webzzle & Wikipedia real-time quality results followed by enhanced Google results.

The knowledge Web explorer now returns real-time results. As soon as a contributor saves a Web page in Webzzle using Wikipedia concepts, the knowledge representation of the Web page and the one of the Webzzle user are updated. The Relative Energy levels are recalculated. Thus, the quality of the results is constantly increasing.

The algorithms to find enhanced Google results have been improved. Now, when a user explores by clicking the 1-Click Explore button, Webzzle dynamically extracts the knowledge representation of the Web resource to explore, transform it and pass it to Google Ajax Search API. Webzzle also presents the Google snippets as well as the Webzzle Explore, Discover & Save features to help the users browse the results.

Firefox add-on upgrade. The 1.1 version is language oriented. The English version can be installed, as well as the french version so far. The add-on is compatible with Firefox 3.5. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9929

Webzzle offers publisher tools. The tools aim at enabling the publishers to benefit from the “Explore to know more” feature on their Web site / Blog / Application. On one hand, this feature can help Wikipedia editors to enrich the content they wrote in Wikipedia by enabling new editors to come and bring more knowledge. It can also bring high quality external links to a Wikipedia page. On another hand, it can help all Webmasters drive engaged users to their Web pages and increase quality traffic. http://www.webzzle.com/intl/en/publisher_tools.html

Webzzle brings a personalized search and explore experience. When logged in Webzzle, the user can select its preferred Wikipedia concepts in the organizer. The list of preferred concepts will also appear in the search interface in order to speed the search through Webzzle and Google, without typing anything. It is also possible to conduct a search from the organizer.

About Webzzle & General Internet (GI)
Webzzle’s mission is to enable users to explore and organize the knowledge Web.
Webzzle is the result of 10 years of hard work, passion & innovation (3 international patents) by a handful of engineers. Webzzle is a product of General Internet Company (GI).
With their help, we built a product that really solves a tough issue : how to get very relevant information in 1 click. Thanks, thanks and thanks again to them.

We want to enter a new phase : build Webzzle with you to make it best match your expectation.

We have the service, the content and the technology. We need users to enjoy now . You can play a great role in the direction we will follow.

Keeping in mind, in the future,we also want to change the advertising business bringing a new, less annoying, monetization solution on the Web : Knowledge ads called adObjects, we do not want to :
- Use market research to make Webzzle the product you expect. We prefer to listen to you.
- Advertise like others do to promote Webzzle. We prefer to get in touch with you and build strong relationships using words of mouth.
- Use too much PR. We prefer to engage knowledge conversations and talk with you directly.

Only you is important.

Join us on :
- Live Feedback on Uservoice : http://webzzle.uservoice.com
- Live Help on Getsatisfaction : http://getsatisfaction.com/webzzle
