Webzzle & Wikipedia Crawler V2

We will soon release our new crawler that gets more related relevant knowledge from any Web page. The crawler will also get the Wikipedia redirections, inserting more keywords in each concept semantic definition.

Webzzle Explore feature & Wikipedia Web site

We’ll start to communicate officially towards Wikipedia editors and explain how the “explore” feature could enhance each Wikipedia page. Each Wikipedia editor will be able to add more value to a Wikipedia page by putting the “Webzzle Explore” link in the page. They will also be able to save real-time knowledge links in Webzzle. Thus, the Wikipedia users will be able to extend the use of Wikipedia.

Today, we display random sources to explore in the home page. Tomorrow, we’ll work on a “Random featured content” functionality that will select the best sources to explore.

Webzzle & Wikipedia Crawler V2

We developed the Webzzle Wikipedia crawler V2. We are testing it at present. It will go on production during Q4. We’ll soon explain what it does.

Webzzle Home Page
We have built a brand new homepage to let you discover randomly, every time the page loads, a new Web resource that has been qualified in Webzzle. We also present underneath the exploration results (results you would get by clicking the ‘Webzzle Explore’ button from the source page).

We also released a new explorer page with the community top concepts. You can easily create an Object query by clicking on the concepts. When you’re connected, you access your top concepts.

In the search page, you can also access your preferred concepts.

Webzzle & the Google Explore feature
We improved our Google query mechanisms by sending more keywords combinations and showing either the best 8 or 16 results.

Webzzle & Sun infrastructure
We moved to MySQL 5.1.

Webzzle & Firefox add-on
We updated the Firefox add-on and released the version 1.1 (Still experimental) : https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/9929

Webzzle will be switched off between August 6th, 2009 and August 24th, 2009.

We want to know more about it. Naturally, we go to Google and search for “twitter hack”.

At this point, we would like to explore and get more knowledge . Today, we go back to Google and search for many keywords combinaisons. We read the pages. From pages to pages, we select more and more keywords (more or less relevant). After some time, we stop our search thinking we reached the best results.

But…

What if Googling could be better ? What if a system could process many keywords combinaisons and analyse the best results for us ?
What if we could benefit from the work of people saving and qualifying their best results in a social knowledge network ? What if these knowledge results could be sorted and ranked using the knowledge network effect ?

This is the Webzzle value proposition : In one click from a Web page, you can get more relevant information from other users and get enhanced results from Google too. Webzzle automates the search queries generations to dramatically improve the search results quality.
The purpose of the explore feature is to save time for the user in the search results analysis process and get higher quality results : go straight to better results. We do not use Google like you do (passing some keywords), we process several queries, sort out the best results and rank the top ones on one page.
As the community grows, the Webzzle results improve. It’s the social knowledge network effect.

From the explorer result page, we start discovering the Webzzle results (if there are some) and the enhanced Google results. Webzzle Extends Google & Wikipedia with the “1-Click Web Explorer”

PALO ALTO, Calif and PARIS, France — June 12, 2008 — Webzzle announced today that it has released a new Firefox add-on to extend the use of Google and Wikipedia. Now, Webzzle enables the users to explore the real-time knowledge Web in 1-Click and get Webzzle & Wikipedia real-time quality results followed by enhanced Google results.

The knowledge Web explorer now returns real-time results. As soon as a contributor saves a Web page in Webzzle using Wikipedia concepts, the knowledge representation of the Web page and the one of the Webzzle user are updated. The Relative Energy levels are recalculated. Thus, the quality of the results is constantly increasing.

The algorithms to find enhanced Google results have been improved. Now, when a user explores by clicking the 1-Click Explore button, Webzzle dynamically extracts the knowledge representation of the Web resource to explore, transform it and pass it to Google Ajax Search API. Webzzle also presents the Google snippets as well as the Webzzle Explore, Discover & Save features to help the users browse the results.

Webzzle offers publisher tools. The tools aim at enabling the publishers to benefit from the “Explore to know more” feature on their Web site / Blog / Application. Webzzle brings a personalized search and explore experience. When logged in Webzzle, the user can select its preferred Wikipedia concepts in the organizer.
